Shoe of the Day

Stella McCartney

Summer is almost here, and when the temps rise you need to get your poor feet cool in a pair of chic sandals. Ones like these from Stella McCartney bring a little colour to your outfit and are a much better alternative to the rubber flip-flop.

Easy Hair Idea: The Top Knot

A celebrity favourite, the top knot is a super easy and quick way to keep cool and still look good in the hot summer months. The high bun was all over the spring runways (and again for the fall shows), as well as on the red carpet.
The style can be a bit messy and boho, or slicked back for a ballerina look. It even works with curly hair, and looks great with bangs.

L-R: Mandy Moore, Nicole Richie, Keri Russell

L-R: Kelli Garner, Vanessa Hudgens, Shenae Grimes

Shoe of the Day

Calvin Klein Alex

This sandal is a Rachel Zoe pick on piperlime.com, so you know it's good if the celebrity stylist and TV personality endorses it. It has a 5inch heel and 1inch platform, and is on-trend in white leather.

Shoe of the Day

I love the sculptural look of this wedge heel. That, and the 5inch heel and platform, the criss-crossed straps, and the neutral colour.

Nail Polish Pick of the Week

If you are a red nail girl, but think the colour is too serious for summer? Why not try a brighter, more orange shade like this one from Essie. The bonus is that such colours look great with a tan.
Kim Kardashian was photographed at an event recently with nearly neon red nails, I'm not sure what shade it is, but I think this one is pretty close (she's may be a bit more florescent).

Shoe of the Day

The Maori Wedge Booties from Sergio Rossi are chic peep toe booties with on trend cut-outs, a 4inch heel, and comes in go-with-everything nude or black suede. Wear it with a summer dress or with cropped jeans.
The stylish shoe was worn recently by Claudia Schiffer while out in London.

Cannes Fashion Roundup

The Cannes Film Festival ended on Sunday, and the last few days were just as fabulous as the first.

Victoria's Secret model Doutzen Kroes wore Emilio Pucci to the premiere of The Beaver. She paired her white dress with a bright blue clutch and black and gold sandals.

Jessica Chastain brought a pop of colour to the red carpet for the premiere of The Tree of Life in a yellow custom designed couture Zac Posen gown.

Also at The Tree of Life premiere, Zoe Saldana walked the red carpet in a red and white striped Giorgio Armani gown, white Nicholas Kirkwood pumps, and Neil Lane jewels.

Uma Thurman attended a Chopard event in a lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, Giuseppe Zanotti t-strap sandals, and chandelier earrings from Chopard.

At the premiere of The Beaver, Bar Refaeli wore a long sleeve- and backless- dress with embellished cut-outs by Roberto Cavalli. She paired the form fitting gown with a silver Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and Chopard jewellery.

Karolina Kurkova wore a black dress with daring cut-outs and a high slit  by Emilio Pucci. She completed the look with sandals by the label and a sleek ponytail.

Kirsten Dunst, who was named Best Actress for her role in Melancholia, showed up at the photocall for the film in a mustard yellow Chloe dress and strappy nude Jimmy Choo shoes. She paired the look with red lips and an embellished barrette.

Gwen Stefani wore a white gown with black details by Armani Prive on the red carpet for the premiere of This Must Be the Place. She finished the look with dark eye makeup and red lipstick.

Shoe of the Day

Yves Saint Laurent

Today's shoe is the centre of controversy. The all red YSL pump is the cause of a lawsuit brought forth by Christian Louboutin. In the trademark infringement suit, for which he is seeking $1 million in damages, Louboutin claims that YSL ripped off his red soles. The suit states "Mr Louboutin is the first designer to develop the idea of having red soles on women's shoes." YSL disagrees citing King Louis XIV and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz as having red soles in court papers.

Billboard Music Awards- Best Dressed

Last night Billboard had their annual Music Awards, and I've got the best looks from the red carpet.

Taylor Swift, who brought home the award for both top album and top country artist, walked the red carpet in an Elie Saab gown, which she paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Nicole Kidman wore a black dress with a sheer embellished skirt from Dolce & Gabbana. What I'm really loving though, is her tousled side braid.

Looking hot in a white suit by Max Azria, Rihanna kept the rest of her look sleek with nude Christian Louboutin pumps, and a gold necklace from Solange Azagury-Partridge.

Beyonce kept things minimal in a long sleeve Lanvin mini from their Fall 2011 collection with an embellished deep v, that she paired with Louboutin pumps.

Amping up the sex appeal, Selena Gomez walked the red carpet in a cut-out Dolce & Gabbana gown, that also featured a high slit. She accessorized with red bow front sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti, jewellery from Neil Lane, and a Judith Leiber clutch.

Shoe of the Day

I love a nude shoe in general, but especially in the summer. And this isn't any nude shoe, this one has a bit of an edge. From the mesh panels, to the metallic zipper, to the cut-outs, this shoe has it all.

Rachel McAdams Cannes Style

Over the last couple of weeks, Rachel McAdams was at the Cannes Film Festival. And while there, the Midnight in Paris star looked fabulous every time she stepped out. She even debuted blonder locks, and rocked some great bright lipstick shades.

This look was part of my  Cannes Best Dressed post, but I think it deserves a second viewing. Rachel looked great at a photocall in a white Maxime Simoens Couture dress with flower details, that she wore with Salvadore Ferragamo pumps, Bavna earrings, and a Brumani ring.

Rachel hit the Midnight in Paris premiere red carpet in an illusion dress from Marchesa. The silk organza gown featured a long train, and she paired the look with Casadei shoes and Bulgari jewels.

To attend the Sleeping Beauty premiere, McAdams wore a Monique Lhuillier sequin bustier and high waisted trousers. She paired the look with  Salvatore Ferragamo minaudiere, peep-toe heels and Amrapali bangles.

Channelling Old Hollywood in a leopard jacquard silk gown from Louis Vuitton, H. Stern jewellery, and patent leather Louboutins, Rachel attended the premiere of her film Midnight in Paris.

amfAR Gala- Best Dressed

Last night fashionistas and filmmakers flocked to the Hotel Du Cap in Antibes, France for amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala as part of the 64th Cannes Film Festival. The glitzy fundraiser brought in (a record breaking)  $10 million for the charity, surpassing last years total by nearly $2.5 million. Guests sat under a portrait of the late Elizabeth Taylor, the first to host the Gala in 1993.

Gwen Stefani attended the event with her husband Gavin Rossdale (not pictured) in a custom designed mermaid gown from her line, L.A.M.B. in black lace with a gold belt accenting her waist.

Kirsten Dunst wore a sheer pastel Chanel Houte Couture gown with an embellished clutch. And as nice as her dress was, so was her braided updo (check it out here).

Freida Pinto looked chic is a shimmery metallic Lanvin mini that she paired with Chopard jewellery and satin pumps.

French actress Clemence Poesy wore French label Chanel to the Gala. She paired the beaded column dress with patent leather platforms and a quilted clutch.

Newly single, model Bar Rafaeli attended the Gala looking stunning in a Roberto Cavalli gown that featured feathers and sequins.

Rosario Dawson, sparkled in another beautiful Cavalli gown.

Kardashian's for OPI

The Kardashian sisters (Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe) are at it again. The girls, who are taking the fashion and beauty world by storm, have added another endeavor to their empire. They are designing a line of nail polish with Nicole for OPI (the brands lower-budget line). Kim took to twitter to announce the news saying "Just think glitz and glam!"

I like this collaboration. Both Kim and Khloe have been seen lately in polish that I love-mostly bright reds and corals. Since their collection is for fall (I'm assuming due to the timeline), and Kim said "glitz and glam", which really is what I think when I think Kardashian, I'm expecting golds and other metallics,  and other deep rich hues. But we'll just have to wait and see. What do you think the colours will be like, and would you buy Kardashian nail polish?

Shoe of the Day

From the front, the "kinga" is just your ordinary, if not dainty, high heeled sandal. But check her out from the back, and the studs bring out the bad girl in this shoe (and you). Wear it to add a little edge to an otherwise sweet look, or any time you need a little bad girl confidence.

Shoe of the Day

Florals were a big trend this spring. If you want to participate, but find a dress a bit much, reach for a floral patterned shoe. I like this this one from Aldo, not only for it's lovely blossoms, but also for the platform, open toe, and cork heel-which is lightweight and great for summer.
Great when paired with a dress for brunch, or a summer wedding, and with jeans for a night out.

My Favourite Looks from Oscar de la Renta's Resort Collection

Oscar de la Renta presented his 2012 Resort Collection the other day in New York City. The line, inspired by Picasso, featured dresses, skirts, jackets, as well as belts, necklaces, and hats all in graphic prints, and vibrate saturated colours. Below is a highlight of my favourite looks from the line, and you can see the complete collection here.
