Faux Glow

With summer just around the corner, temps are rising and with them, so are hemlines. If you find that your legs are looking a little, shall we say, pasty, the best and safest why to improve the look of your freshly emerged skin is to fake a tan (going to a tanning bed or sitting out in the sun puts you at risk for developing life threatening skin cancers like melanoma).
So, to get that sun-kissed look without the sun, try one of the many self-tanners out there.

If you are fair, or nervous about using self-tanners your best bet is to try a gradual tanner. They are pretty hard to mess up and won't streak. Since they are basically just moisturizer with a bit of DHA (the sugar-based compound that causes the skin to darken), you can use it everyday until you get your desired colour.
Try Jergens Natual Glow Express

If you are too impatient to wait for results, try a gel or cream wash-off bronzer. Apply   to exposed skin (legs in mini, arms and shoulders in a tank, or chest in a low-cut top) for a one day glow. And the best part is, if you screw up it washes right off so you can start over. Try L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel

When you need that fresh from vacation glow, go with a full blown self-tanner which have a full dose of colour enhancing DHA. For best results, be sure to exfoliate and shave before applying any self-tanners; then rub in circular motions to help prevent streaks. And be sure to wash your hands immediately, so you don't get orange hands. Or, if you don't want to do it yourself, check your local salons to see if they offer a spray tan service.
